ABOUT US
The group was formed in 2000 by Stuart Farrar who wanted to provide a platform for young people in the 13-19 year old bracket to perform in local productions in which they may not normally be otherwise considered. For instance, an adult theatrical society would shy away from casting people this age in lead roles where an audience would expect them to be older. Examples of this are 'West Side Story' and 'Copacabana!' - the characters are written older but if the entire cast is young adult then the audience accept their age without question. It's a youth group and is encouraging young talent to the fore.
Anyone within the age band of 13-19 is welcome to take part. If you are successful at auditions then all we ask for in return is commitment, dedication and enthusiasm. Ask anyone who has or still does perform with the group and they will tell you of the tremendous team spirit and above all good fun they have experienced performing with us.

The group meets for rehearsals in Luton on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. You may not be required at every rehearsal but you must be prepared to be available if called.
If you feel you may be interested why not come along and see our next production? You will get a good idea of the standard we aim for and how much enjoyment and reward you can get from being involved.
We look forward to welcoming you!
COLIN SMITH
Stuart knew Colin Smith very well and worked with him in many local productions with St Andrews Players where Colin was a regular Musical Director. From 1980-1989 Colin held the baton at the Luton Choral Society and during his tenure there, he established a close relationship with the Luton Symphony Orchestra. In addition to this, through Michael Rose and the Bedfordshire County Youth Orchestra, he enabled many members to sing at charity concerts in the Royal Albert Hall.
Sadly, Colin was taken from us prematurely and he has since been sorely missed. However, his legacy of excellence and his passion for music lives on in the Choral Society, Luton Symphony Orchestra and indeed with this group. We are proud to be associated with his name and will honour his memory with every performance we give.
